The US-Qatar Business Council is proud to announce its participation in the U.S. Commercial Service, U.S. Embassy Doha Trade Mission to the United States by representatives of the Qatar 2022 Supreme Committee.

The U.S. Commercial Service, U.S. Embassy Doha, is pleased to bring the Qatar 2022 trade mission to the United States. The Trade Mission will visit Los Angeles, Portland, and Seattle visiting a number of sites and meeting with companies that can offer products and services that are applicable to the goals and objectives of The Emir of Qatar His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani’s National Vision 2030 and the requirements of the 2022 FIFA World Cup. The Trade Mission will be led jointly by Mr. Hassan Al Thawadi, Secretary General, Qatar 2022 Supreme Committee, and U.S. Ambassador to Qatar, Dr. Susan L. Ziadeh.

Qatar continues to enjoy a booming economy and substantial budget and trade surpluses and is one of our most important regional trading partners, importing $2.8 billion of US goods in 2011. Qatar is the world’s richest country by per capita income ($102,700) and its GDP grew nearly 20 percent in 2011. Qatar is investing up to $200 billion between now and 2020 in its national infrastructure (much of it in preparation for the FIFA 2022 World Cup). The developments include a new airport, seaport, roads, and rail system. As such, the Qatari market presents enormous opportunities for American firms.

During the Trade Mission, officials from the Supreme Committee and the U.S. Commercial Service will be available for one-on-one meetings to assess the viability of products/services for the Qatari market on Monday, February 18th in Los Angeles, Wednesday, February 20th in Portland, and Thursday, February 21st in Seattle. Priority sectors include: Green Technology, IT, Safety & Security, and Cooling technologies and services.

Member companies of the US-Qatar Business Council who wish to meet with the Qatar 2022 Trade Mission during its trip to the west coast should contact Mr. Abraham Micael by email programs@usqbc.org or by phone 202-457-8555.
