Ambassador Al-Kuwari Visits Stanford University
Newly appointed Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the United States, Ambassador Mohammed Jaham Al-Kuwari visited Stanford University in California this week. Ambassador Al-Kuwari, accompanied by Council President Ambassador Patrick N. Theros, met with the staff and faculty of Stanford University including Dr. John L. Hennessy, President of Stanford. Ambassador Al-Kuwari lauded Stanford for its notable achievements in academia and research and as a shining example of the American education system.
Ambassador Al-Kuwari spoke of the long friendly relationship between the US and Qatar, including the political, cultural and economic ties. The Ambassador noted that Qatar has become a country with complete academic freedom that enables it to become a center for learning and research in the region. Ambassador Al-Kuwari noted that Qatar is a country on a mission. Qatar will not allow recent tensions in the area to divert it from its close alliance with the United States nor disrupt its efforts to advance the interests of all the GCC and Arab countries, even if there are misunderstandings. Ambassador Al-Kuwari lauded Stanford for its notable achievements in academia and research and as a shining example of the American education system. President Hennessy and other senior Stanford faculty took the opportunity to praise Qatar's commitment to freedom of thought and expression and to express their hopes for future mutually profitable cooperation.
