Private Sector Lunch Panel Discussion Hosted on the Sidelines of the Fifth US-Qatar Strategic Dialogue

Doha, Qatar- The US-Qatar Business Council, in partnership with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry of the State of Qatar, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce (USCC), and the American Chamber of Commerce in Qatar (AmCham), hosted a private sector Lunch Panel Discussion on the sidelines of the 2023 US-Qatar Strategic Dialogue.

The Lunch Roundtable Discussion was hosted at The Ritz Carlton, Doha, and was attended by private sector officials from leading American and Qatari companies, US and Qatari government officials, and the wider business community. The event began with remarks from US and Qatari officials and concluded with a panel discussion.

The event began with remarks from US and Qatari private and public sector officials including:

  • Sultan bin Rashid Al-Khater, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry of the State of Qatar
  • Dilawar Syed, State Department Special Representative for Commercial and Business Affairs
  • Ibtihaj Al-Ahmadani – Member of the Board of Directors, Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry
  • Mohammed Barakat, Managing Director and Treasurer of the Board of Directors, USQBC
  • Sheikh Mohammed Bin Faisal Al Thani – QBA Member and Vice Chairman Al Faisal Holding and Aamal
  • Liz Clark – Senior Manager, Middle East Affairs at U.S. Chamber of Commerce
  • Brooke Holland – Executive Director, American Chamber of Commerce in Qatar (AmCham)

The Panel Discussion was moderated by Mohammed Barakat and featured the following speakers:

  • Camille Richardson, Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Office of Middle East and Africa, International Trade Administration, US Commerce Department
  • Dilawar Syed – State Department Special Representative for Commercial and Business Affairs
  • Fatma Al-Nuaimi – Communications Executive Director at Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy.
  • Farha Ahmed Al-Kuwari – Executive Director of Strategy & Business Development, Qatar Development Bank

The Lunch Panel Discussion focused on some important business, trade, and investment themes between the United States and Qatar including synergies between the US and Qatar in hosting the FIFA World Cup, the prominent role of US and Qatari women in their respective economies, and how sustainability will play a central role in the development of both countries’ economic agenda going forward.
