Annapolis, Maryland – The U.S.-Qatar Business Council (USQBC) recently joined a Qatari delegation to Annapolis, Maryland, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen trade and investment ties between the State of Qatar and the State of Maryland. Building on momentum from the December 2025 Middle East Reconnaissance Mission to Qatar, the visit reflects a continued commitment to fostering deeper commercial engagement and identifying strategic opportunities for partnership across priority sectors.
The visit included a meet and greet with Governor Wes Moore, a private governmental meeting with Maryland Secretary of Commerce Harry Coker, Jr., and a business roundtable at the Governor’s Reception Room, bringing together Qatari officials and Maryland companies across aerospace, defense, life sciences, technology, higher education, and finance. Discussions highlighted Maryland’s strategic advantages as a hub for innovation and global business, while underscoring Qatar’s role as a dynamic partner and gateway to the broader Middle East region.
The delegation was led by Mr. Fahad Al Dosari, Commercial Attaché of the State of Qatar, and included Mr. Hamad Almalik, Head of Subnational Diplomacy at the Embassy of the State of Qatar. Representing the U.S.-Qatar business community, Mr. Moe Barakat, USQBC Managing Director and Treasurer of the Board of Directors, participated in the engagements, reinforcing the Council’s role in promoting U.S. businesses and advancing the commercial partnership between the United States and Qatar.
